Loteria

Loteria!

Techno Source has signed a deal with FremantleMedia Enterprises to bring Loteria, Mexico’s most popular family board game, to the USA. Loteria, is played like bingo, but instead of numbers and balls, the dealer draws from a deck of cards picturing images depicting different items in Mexican Culture.

“Loteria is one of the most important and beloved games in Latin America,” said Eric Levin, Division Head, Techno Source. “It transcends generations and cultures with its simple and exciting game play that appeals to kids, adults and families. We are so pleased to be able to bring this best-selling game to its fans here in the United States via their favorite mass market retailers.”

“Originating in Italy in the 1400s, Loteria was a hobby game commonly played among the Italian upper class. This popular game of chance with its bingo style game play and decorative cards was brought to New Spain (Mexico) in 1769. By the late 1800s, Loteria, Spanish for the word “lottery,” became a tradition at Mexican affairs. Generations of play along with the game’s distinctive card iconography and associated riddles made Loteria symbolic with Mexican culture.”

The game will be available this spring and retail for about $5.99
